Britney Relieved Of Hosting Duties

Earlier this month, Desperate Gossip reported that Britney had accepted an invitation to host the Scandinavian Style Mansion Gala on Feb. 16, a fashion fete thrown by her pal, Claus Hjelmbak. Today's hospitalization of Britney changed that..... Hjelmbak has decided to issue an uninvitation.

"Due to recent events, Britney Spears will not be hosting the Scandinavian Style Mansion event on Feb. 16 as recently announced," the Danish fashion executive tells E! News exclusively. "As a friend, my primary concern is for Britney's well-being and giving her the love and support she needs."

While Hjelmbak, a participant in Spears' late-night Kitson shopping run earlier this month, is rescinding his offer for the singer to host the swank fashion gathering, he said Spears was more than welcome to attend the do in a less taxing capacity.

"I still hope she will be well enough to attend the gala event as my personal guest," he says.

The gala is set to feature the crème de la crème of Scandinavian fashion houses.

In Spears' honor, Hjelmbak says he will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the evening's pricey VIP passes to the charity of her choosing.

Earlier Thursday, the fashion-forward foreigner told E! News that his thoughts were with the troubled star and that he supported the decision—apparently made for, not by, her—to seek treatment.

"I have been in touch with those close to her, and all I can say is my foremost concern is for her to get the help she needs," he said.

Hjelmbak was slated to head to UCLA Medical Center to visit Spears later this afternoon.

Montel Williams Says "GoodBye"

Talk Show host Montel Williams has announced that he'll bid farewell to his high-rated daytime talk show at the end of this season.

The 51-year-old's self-titled talk show has been on air for 17 years, but when production wraps this spring, it will be for the final time.

Montel Williams, 51, who had served 22 years in the military, launched "The Montel Williams Show" in New York in 1991. He earned the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host in 1996, and was even nominated several times for his show.

But Montel fans may still get to see their host in action as CBS Television Distribution, the syndicated show's producer and distributor, is offering the compilation series "Best of Montel" for fall, which includes 52 weeks of highlight episodes from the show.

Lynne Spears, Britney's mom, Says Her Daughter is Fine

Lynne Spears left UCLA this morning, after her daughter, Britney Spears, was placed on a 72 hr. hold.

Although mama Spears said everything was fine in re: to Britney, you can't help but feel for the mom when you see how sad and distraught she looks in the picture.

Let's hope things improve steadily from here on out for the Spear's family.

Psychiatrist Decides Britney Needs To Be Hospitalized

In the very early hours of Thursday morning, Britney Spears was taken to UCLA Hospital where she is currently on a 5150 hold.

The plan to get Britney into UCLA Medical Center had reportedly been hatched for days -- it was cancelled last night, but was carried through early Thursday morning. Reportedly the plan was so intricate the FAA had cleared airspace in route to the hospital.

Back at her house, Britney's psychiatrist told her she was going to the hospital. Her response was, "Is something wrong?" She was not resistant. She made hot chocolate and waited before paramedics arrived and placed her on a gurney.

Reportedly the psychiatrist felt her condition had deteriorated. Britney had not slept since Saturday -- a day and half longer than she stayed up in recent memory.

The reason she's at UCLA is her new treating psychiatrist practices out of that medical center.

It is reported that during her initial 72-hour stay she cannot be forced to take medication against her will. If, however, she refuses to take meds, the plan is for the the psych to go to court and have Britney held for an additional 14 days, during which time he can administer proper medications.

Lynne Spears and Adnan drove to the Medical Center in the same car. Reports say that when Lynne found out Britney was being committed, she blamed it on Sam and was extremely agitated.

According to reports coming in, there is alot of hostility between Spears' parents and Sam Lutfi. It is unclear who is making decisions re: Spears care at this point, but reportedly Sam wants to be in charge, and Britney's parents are furious with him.

Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice Show 'Hired' Again

The "Don" should be very happy today. NBC wants to keep Trump's show, "Celebrity Apprentice", around for a second season. This will be the "Apprentice's" eighth installment overall, and apparently the celebrity format will stay the same.

The second season of "Celebrity Apprentice" will premiere in January.

The first season of "Celebrity Apprentice" will wrap with a live two-hour finale March 27. So far, the contestants have raised more than $1 million for various charities, including the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of CNY, the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Maybe next season will draw a bit more star power...let's hope so. Reports are claiming that high-profile celebs are already calling to be on the show. Wonder who??

Jason Biggs Hears "A Yes!" And Some Wedding Bells

Jason Biggs, the actor who got his thrills with some specially-shaped pastry in "American Pie", is getting married to his girlfriend, actress Jenny Mollen.

Biggs himself announced the news to Us Weekly during Tuesday night's Los Angeles premiere of "Over Her Dead Body", in which he stars with Eva Longoria Parker.

"It happened recently," Biggs told Us of his proposal.

At least the one that stuck.

"He asked me over and over again ever since we met," interjected Mollen, whose credits include guest parts on Medium and Angel.

Biggs, 29, and Mollen, 28, first hooked up last summer while working on the film My Best Friend's Girl.

That comedy is due out in September. And while the newly engaged couple is playing coy about dates, they could be hitched by the time the flick hits theaters.

"I think we're going to elope," Biggs cracked to Us. "We don't want to deal with all the drama of dealing with my family."

Ethan Hawke Joins Hollywood's Ever-Expanding "Daddy-To-Be" Club

Cutie-Patootie actor, Ethan Hawke and his girlfriend, Ryan Shawhughes, are expecting a baby.

The news was confirmed by Hawke's publicist, Mara Buxbaum, on Wednesday.

Hawke, 37, has two children from his marriage to Uma Thurman.

His screen credits include "Training Day," "Dead Poets Society," "Great Expectations" and "Before Sunset."

Forbes Names Madonna Richest Woman In Music

Pop star Madonna is still the material girl, earning $72 million in a recent 12-month period to top a Forbes.com list of female singers whom the financial Web site dubbed "Cash Queens of Music."

Madonna beat out Barbra Streisand, who was No. 2 with annual earnings of $60 million, and Celine Dion at $45 million, according to Forbes.com.

Rounding out the top five were Colombian singing sensation Shakira at No. 4 with $38 million and R&B singer Beyonce with $27 million.

Country music stars also did well, with Faith Hill landing in the No. 8 slot with $19 million and the Dixie Chicks at No. 9 with $18 million.

And how did our Britney Spears fare? Considering all the troubles Spears has had all year, the pop star still made No. 14 on the list, earning $8 million from royalties on old songs and sales of her perfume, Curious. Her latest album, "Blackout," was released late in 2007 after the period covered by the Forbes.com survey.

Marie Osmond No Longer "Dancing With The Stars", But "Talking To The Stars".

Watch out Oprah...there's a new "Wannabe Queen of Talk" coming to town! Marie Osmond will be hosting her own daytime talk show, reported to premiere in the fall of 2009. The singer-actress, who recently completed her spin on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," has joined forces with distributor Program Partners for an hour-long entertainment/lifestyle talk show.

The show will be focusing on issues important to women. Title of the hour long daytime talkfest is said to be "Marie" (as in 'no Donny', though reportedly the two siblings had been shopping tv projects together recently)and will probably shoot in Los Angeles or Las Vegas

Marie and Big Brother Donny are supposed to perform together for a week in July in Las Vegas at MGM Grand's Hollywood Theatre, which has led to speculation that they might set up a permanent show in the city.

I guess all that dancing is really paying off for Marie!

Britney's Fashion Consultant Sues Brit For Payment

And yet ANOTHER lawsuit for Britney!

A local fashion consultant is suing Britney Spears for more than $50,000 because the singer hasn't paid her clothing bills, according to Norm Clarke

Nancy Rosu on Jan. 18 filed a complaint in District Court alleging that Spears hasn't paid her since August 2007. Rosu, who is a fashion consultant and purchases and ships clothing to Spears and her children, has worked with Spears since August 2006.

Rosu's attorney, Natricia Tricano, said Spears owes her Rosu an estimated $30,000 to $40,000 for clothing -- including custom items -- Rosu purchased on the singer's behalf.

She said Rosu has tried to contact Spears' personal assistants and accountants for about two months but hasn't had any luck getting compensation.

"There's no ill will or hard feelings," Tricano apparently told a court reporter. "I know she's (Spears) got a lot of things going on in her life."

Britney...... Is She Really Getting Medical Help?

Britney has indeed seen numerous doctors, including a new psychiatrist who has come to her home every day this week, according to TMZ.

Britney has seen doctors who have been referred by other doctors, plus doctors who have been referred by celebrities Britney knows, and doctors referred by her lawyers, family and friends. The process has been excruciating for her, partly because her disease is severe, according to TMZ's sources. And reportedly, Britney is on meds to treat her bipolarity.

But there are different views on how well the meds are working, says TMZ. A friend says when Britney takes her medicine she is like "a different person -- normal and sweet." But she takes her meds for a while and then feels as if she can live without it -- so she stops taking them -- and her condition quickly deteriorates. But a professional tells TMZ flatly, "The medication just isn't working."

That same professional tells TMZ, "She's really trying. Whether it works -- we'll have to see." That person also says it's extremely frustrating when the media shows video of Britney out on the town acting crazy, adding, "She has a disease. Sometimes when you see her she's in the middle of an episode. It's like mocking someone with Down syndrome."

Lynne Spears Talks About Britney and Jamie

The National Ledger is reporting that Britney Spears' mother, Lynne Spears, is speaking out about her daughters in a new interview. She says that she is working hard to help save Britney and Jamie Lynne Spears. In a new report from Life & Style Weekly set for publication this week the magazine notes the struggles of the family and what mom is trying to do to save her daughters.

"Britney's on my mind day and night," Lynne told Life & Style exclusively having landed in LA to see her long-estranged daughter. “She never leaves my thoughts. Nor does Lynne’s other daughter, Jamie Lynn, who’s sixteen and nearly five months pregnant. “Jamie Lynn’s my baby,” Lynne confided. “I’m doing my best. I’m doing as well as can be expected.”

Lynne decided to make the trip to LA after hearing from Britney, 26, herself. “Britney called her on Jan. 25,” says an insider. “She told her, ‘I’ve got to get my boys back and I can’t do it without you.’ Lynne, who hadn’t talked to Britney in ages, was shocked at first. It was the moment she’d been waiting for.”

“I love Britney dearly,” Lynne tells Life & Style. “I want nothing more than to protect her and make everything all right for her." As for Jamie Lynn, she remains in the Spears’ hometown, Kentwood, La., with the father of her child, Casey Aldridge. “I will always be there for her,” Lynne says. Told that people still believe she’s a good mother, Lynne managed a smile and replied, “Thank you. That means a lot right now with everything that’s happening."

Legal Troubles For Donald Trump.....Apprentices, Take Notes!

Uh Oh---The "Don" looks like he's in trouble! Trump is is being sued for $4 billion. Now that's alot of "Money ~Money~Money~Mooooney!"

Nights at Vegas., Inc. is suing Trump, alleging he has pretty much blocked them in connection with the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Las Vegas. Nights at Vegas is a licensed real estate property management company that leased out a number of the 1,200 condos in Trump complex.

When Nights at Vegas leases a unit, it takes 20% of the rental income from the condo owner. The Donald has a management company that gets 50% of the income when it leases out the condo.

According to the lawsuit, Trump has effectively made it impossible for Nights at Vegas to do business by prohibiting them from using the name "Trump" in any of its advertising or marketing.

Nights at Vegas claims Trump is violating the anti-trust laws, among other things. The suit seeks a cool $1 bil in compensatory damages and $3 bil in punitive.

No comment from Trumps peeps.

Big Brother 9 Coming To A Television Screen Near You Soon!

Very Soon! CBS's Hit Reality TV show, Big Brother, will start airing the ninth season on Feb. 12th. Yea! "Big Brother 9" will be the first edition of the show to not be shown in the summer. I guess we have the writer's strike to thank for this special winter addition of the series!

Hulk Hogan's Daughter To Judge Wannabe Prom Queens

So ABC has a new reality tv show, called "America's Prom Queen". The basic idea is to have some "lucky" girls live together in a "fairytale" mansion while they face a new prom-related challenge every week. Then the prom queen hopefuls will face the Prom Queen Commitee to see who makes the weekly cut, and of course, whose dreams of becoming a Prom Queen will be dashed.

ABC Family has selected Brooke Hogan to sit among the prom committee panelists. Hmmmm...uh....why Brooke? I guess only ABC knows the answer to that.

The show premiers March 17th.

Breaking Britney/Sam Lutfi News!!!!

This report is JUST NOW coming in.....


TMZ is reporting that Sam Lutfi called Harvey Levin a few minutes ago,with Britney by his side, and angrily protested a story that was posted earlier about Brit's family calling Lutfi poison in re: to Brit.

Lutfi said of the family, "They have an agenda. Their agenda is jealously because they don't fit in. I do. They see her three times a year."

Britney was by the phone during Lutfi's conversation with Levin. Lutfi claimed he did not force Britney to buy a car, asking Brit, "Did I force you to buy a car." In a heavy southern accent she responded, "No." He continued, "Do I ever bug you." She replied, "We argue."

Lutfi said Britney's mom is fine with him -- it's her dad who's a problem. Family sources tell TMZ that's baloney -- both Lynne and Jamie "are on the same page," feeling like Sam is a "megalomaniac" who is motivated by "evil."

New Baby On The Way For Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale

Aw...they are such a great family, and now the Stefani/Rossdale's are expanding their family tree!

Gavin Rossdale's father, Douglas, tells Usmagazine.com.

"Yes, they are!" he gushed to Us Magazine early Tuesday in a telephone interview. When asked if he's happy, he said, "Of course!"

Stefani, 38, and husband Gavin Rossdale, 42, have a 20-month-old son, Kingston.

Barack Obama Gets Support From Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere, the actress from the hit show, Heroes, took time yesterday to support presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Obama was holding a rally at American University in Washington, D.C., where he was endorsed by Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy.

During the festivities, Hayden showed up with hopes of meeting Barack, as she was heard in a reported exchange with police that went:

Police: “In terms of meeting up with him, we would have to wait for the staffer.”
Hayden: “That’s fine. Let’s at least try.”
Escort: “I think if they understand who she is they’ll probably go and talk to her.”

End Result: Hayden got in to meet Obama, and Obama got another supporter.

Miley Cyrus actually was given the name Destiny Hope Cyrus when she was born. "Miley" became her nickname as she was apparently one heck of a smiling happy baby (Daddy Billy Ray explained this to Oprah when he and Miley were on the show a few weeks ago)---'Miley' was the endearing version of 'smiling'. And so "Miley" stuck, and the "Destiny" faded away.

It was yet another bizarro night at Casa De Spears!

According to reports, Brit basically had a meltdown, and after a complicated chain of events, the end result was a reunion with Mom Spears. It's About time the family steps in to help their daughter!

Here is a summary, so to speak, of last night's events:

Brit and Sam Lufti arrive home at Britney's house.

Apparently Sam and Britney have a heated argument over Adnan Ghalib---Spears "boyfriend".

Sam does not like Adnan, wants Brit to stay away from Adnan (could it be that Sam really wants Britney to stay away from Adnan's photograpy bosses? Could it be Sam wants to control all Britney's publicity pictures, and of course, the $$ from the pics?...Naw!)

Britney likes Adnan (Or could it be that Brit is so confused and messed up, Adnan has easily convinced her that she likes/needs him, and his photography associates to control her publicity photos?...Naw!)

So Britney reportedly jumps out the car, calling on her phone to Adnan, pleading with him to come and pick her up.

Sam meanwhile alerts security to NOT let Ghalib on the premises!
Sam also turns off Brit's cell phones so Adnan cannot reach her.

Britney sits by herself outside her home and cries while holding London, her dog.

Britney leaves with another paparazzo to go meet Adnan Ghalib somewhere else.

Now it is reported that Brit's father, Jaime, showed up about this time as well, with police.

Hours later, Mom Lynne shows up at Britney's house, and the mother and daughter apparently have some sort of reconciliation.

And finally, Britney, Mom Lynne, and Lufti all come out of the house to give paparazzi some photo opps. A sort of show of unity among the three.

Of course, we all know that Mom Lynne does not approve of Sam Lufti, so we will see how long this "union" lasts.

Wow..what a night.
Wonder how Brit's day will go today?

Good news--
Mom and Dad Spears are here, and hopefully will convince Britney to get the help she so obviously and desperately needs!

And more good news: Britney can have telephone contact with her sons;lI sure hope that goes well for Brit's sake and those little cutie-patootie boys!

The Today Show had a nice visit from the very happy and no longer nauseous Jessica Alba. Alba is busy doing promotios for her new movie, The Eye, which comes out Friday.

Discussing her pregnancy, Jessica told Matt that she had all-day morning sickness, but that she is all over that now. Yuck...been there, done that!

Discusing her new movie, "The Eye", the happy mommy to be said “I love horror movies. I love psychological thrillers. I love the fact nobody is being mutilated. Thirteen-year-olds can go and watch this movie. It’s a good, classic ghost story.”

With a baby on the way, the “Awake” actress revealed that she’s eagerly awaiting motherhood. “I’ve always loved kids and I’ve always wanted kids. It’s kind of perfect.”

Sam Lufti Calls Barbara Walters Re: Britney

Not one to be left out of the "Britney Mediafest", Barbara Walters announced on "The View", her ABC talkfest, that Brit's manager/pal Sam Hufti had called her, hoping to set the record straight about Britney. "She has been to a psychiatrist," Walters said Lufti told her. "She, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment."
Walters also revealed that Britney has been in touch with her estranged mom, Lynne Spears, who was spotted at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears Back On TV With 'Zoey 101'

Britney Spear's little sister, Jamie, is back on the TV screen for the fourth and most likely last season of her tv show, "Zoey 101". The 16 year old Spear's sibling announced she is pregnant with her teen boyfriend's baby several weeks ago.

Filming on "Zoey 101" had finished in the summer, so no preggy belly will be seen.

Reports are circulating that 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears has allegedly agreed to giving up her unborn baby. A source close the star of "Zoey 101" on Nickelodeon said that her mother Lynne will take custody of the baby. Maybe not such a good choice, in my humble opinion.

Jenna Bush's White House Slumber Party

First daughter Jenna Bush had a slumber party at the White House Saturday with her girlfriends. It was the "pre-party", so to speak, for Jenna's bridal shower the next day.

Details of the twin's celebration were kept under wraps by the First Lady's office.

But her grandmother, former First Lady Barbara Bush, said at an event Friday night, "At our house now, the White House at this moment, Jenna has 10 girls (which later became 15 girls) at the house ... because we're having a shower for her tomorrow."

"There's going to be a lot of people," she told The Washington Post. "Aunts, cousins. It's going to be nice."

Jenna, 26, is set to marry Henry Hager, 29, the son of a prominent Virginia Republican, on May 10.

Eva spoke about her new movie, "Over My Dead Body", saying it was difficult to switch from her role as Gabby on 'Housewives' to her role as a dead fiance in the new movie.

Mary-Kate Olsen Not To Be Questioned By Police

Reports now are confirming that police will not question Mary-Kate Olsen in regards to Heath Ledger's death. Suspision was in the air, as well as rumors and inuendos, that the masseuse and Olsen had somehow tried to rid Heath's room of illegal drugs. Hence the call to bodyguards first instead of 911.

Hopefully all the rumors, innuendos and suspision can now be laid to rest, along with Heath.

Mommy-To-Be Jessica Alba Feels The Nesting Urge

Jesica Alba has the nesting urge....but the soon to be mommy has a couple of chores to do first--promoting her new horror thriller "The Eye" this week, and then attending the Hollywood premiere. 26-year-old Alba says after that she'll be getting back to the activity she's been looking forward to relishing in for the last few weeks at home: "Nesting, getting furniture, creating the baby's environment."


She admits, "I definitely get more tired than I've ever been, and more hungry, but other than that, I feel great. I've gained quite a bit of weight, but I think it's healthy. It's good for the baby," says Alba, whose vast collection of accolades includes being voted AskMen.com's No. 1 Most Desirable Woman and being named Sexiest Woman in the World by FHM magazine.

As far as her future, after her and fiance Cash Warren's baby arrives, "I haven't really planned it out, but I wanted to take a break at this time in my career."
